Information Is Beautiful
Information Is Beautiful is the new book by David McCandless that I helped design in 2009. I worked on the overall look and feel of the book, it's layout and materials for the UK edition, I also worked on a number of the information graphics inside.
The book is out in February 2010, over the next month I'll share a number of the spreads that I worked on.
Time Lines
Time Lines is a visualisation of time travel plots in various films and TV programmes. One of the major design hurdles was ensuring the design managed the large amount of information between 1960 and 2000 (just how many journeys did Marty McFly make?!). This is what gives the design it's pleasing sweep at the bottom right.

Information is Beautiful: the layout
The layout followed a grid system that was specifically designed to be flexible. The key was to allow the information to dictate as much as it could without it becoming a book that was difficult to understand or navigate.
Mountains Out of Molehills
Moutains Out of Molehills shows the spikes in media scare stories throught the years, from violent computer games to swine flu... Unlike Time Lines this used the basic designed grid system.
